Fat Dissolving Injections, sometimes referred to Intralipotherapy/Aquaplasty, break down fat in a controlled way, so your body can safely remove it through its lymphatic system. The treatment typically requires a course of two to four treatments with four to six-week intervals between each session.
Although the procedure doesn’t hurt, you should expect some swelling which can take up to three weeks to subside.
Once treated with this solution the fat cell is permanently destroyed, however the body will make new fat cells. This treatment should only be used as a supplement to a healthy lifestyle, and is only intended for dealing with small pockets of fat rather than for providing a complete weight loss solution.
Aqualyx®, developed for the non-surgical reduction of localised fat under the skin is a gel-based aqueous solution, which dissolves fat and is biocompatible and biodegradable. Aqualyx® works by causing the dissolution of fat cells. The body then expels the released fatty acids naturally.
Aqualyx® is the only product available for Aquaplasty’ or Aqualysis’ and is suitable for Face & Body Treatment. Local anaesthetic is combined with the Aqualyx® & is administered using a fine needle, with minimal discomfort. Repeat treatments can be booked after 6 weeks.
Desoface is the next generation in injectable ‘fat dissolvers’ designed to treat localised pockets of fat. The active ingredient Sodium Deoxycholate dissolves the areas of fat which are difficult to lose despite improving diet and exercise.
Desoface is specifically formulated to achieve excellent results with minimised downtime and is suitable for Jawline and under chin treatments it is administered safely using a cannula. 1-2 treatments are indicated to achieve results.
Desobody are the next generation in injectable ‘fat dissolvers’ designed to treat localised pockets of fat. The active ingredient Sodium Deoxycholate dissolves the areas of fat which are difficult to lose despite improving diet and exercise. The higher concentration of Desobody ensure excellent clinical results on more difficult to treat areas, treatments are administered over multiple treatment sessions 4-6 weeks apart.
Unlike liposuction, Intralipotherapy normally leads to a degree of skin contraction too, so you are less likely to end up with loose skin around the areas which have been treated.
Aqualyx was the original fat dissolver, both products are very effective, Desoface/Desobody is the next generation of fat dissolver, it is a potent, purified form of the the fat dissolving chemical. the benefit of Deso is the ability to administer dosage dependant upon the area to be treated. Your Practitioner will help you to decide which is indicated at your consultation.
As with any injection, you may experience slight discomfort, the medicine is mixed with a Local anaesthetic, and is either administered via a long thin needle or a blunt cannula. Some people report a slight ache in the treated are after the local anaesthetic wears off.
As with all treatments there are side-effects, when administered safely by a qualified and experienced Health Professional the incidence of complications are minimised.
Yes fat dissolving injections are not indicated for weight loss, there intended indication is to treat small pockets of fat that do not disappear following weight loss.
