STOP TAKING…STOP USING

Never stop taking medication which is prescribed by your GP or Consultant without their knowledge.  If you are uncertain regarding any medication or topical either over the counter or prescribed please check with your Practitioner.

  • 6 Months Roaccutane (Isotretinoin) Prescribed Medicine
  • 2 Weeks St Johns Wort can cause skin sensitivity  
  • 5 Days Topical products containing Acids for resurfacing or Lightening Skin
  • 5 Days Retinols & Prescribed Tretinoin

STOP IN CLINIC TREATMENTS

Before you commence skin treatments you must make your Practitioner aware of other on-going treatments that are already underway.  Whilst you will not need to stop these treatments we will be able to work out a schedule so that we avoid risks and complications.

  • Laser/Thermal Vascular/IPL
  • Laser/IPL Hair Removal
  • Obagi Prescription Treatment 
  • RF-Microneedling/Microneedling/Laser Resurfacing
  • Skin Peels 

START USING …START TAKING

  • 4  Weeks UVA/UVB SPF 30+ Avoid Sun Exposure
  • 2-4 Weeks Preparation Creams advised by Practitioner 
  • 5 Days Acyclovir Tablets if prescribed for severe facial Herpes Prevention
  • 3 Days Acyclovir (Zovirax) Cream to the area AM & PM

DAY OF TREATMENT

  • Do Not Shave/Wax or use Hair Removal Cream on the area 
  • Cleanse your skin as usual remembering not to use active products that resurface.
  • Moisturise as usual with non active cream or lotion.
  • If you are using prep creams use these as instructed.
  • Apply your SPF as usual.
  • If you can avoid wearing make-up.


If you are concerned about any skin blemishes, rashes or anything else alert your Practitioner as we may need to reshedule your treatment 

AFTER PROCEDURE AVOID

Heat & Topicals…

  • 6-8 Weeks Sun Exposure
  • 3-7 Days Active Facewash
  • 3-7 Days Active Facial Creams
  • 48 Hours Sauna/Steam Room
  • 48 Hours Exercise
  • 48 Hours Swimming
  • 48 Hours Expose to Hot Water
  • Do not use perfume, aftershave or heavily scented creams until skin has settled 

AFTER PROCEDURE AFTERCARE

  • Do not apply make-up
  • Use a clean pillowcase
  • Keep skin clean, If washing use a mild face wash and tepid water 
  • Use mild non-active products to moisturise the skin or use products provided
  • Always wash your hands before touching your face
  • Expect some Flaking Skin and do not pick at the skin.
  • Always use UVA/UVB SPF 30 or 30+
  • Keep Hydrated

REPORT SIDE-EFFECTS OR CONCERNS

Side effects associated with topical skin peels and micro-needling are rare.  It is important that you report anything unusual or concerning immediately, your Practitioner can be reached 24 hours a day.

  • Redness & Burning which is getting worse
  • Blistering
  • Weeping Skin
  • Allergic Reaction
